Long Lake Fire Being Held

USPA NEWS - The Long Lake wildfires complex has been held at an estimated 8,468 hectares.
No new damage reports have been received.

Tomorrow, additional property owners outside the active wildfire zone will be allowed to return home. However, other evacuated areas remain unsafe for re-entry at present.

Crews have established a fire break within the active wildfire zone at the southern end to assist in containing the fire's spread in the interior. Dry conditions persist, causing the fire to burn more deeply. Crews are dedicating time to excavate and locate underground hotspots to extinguish them.

Currently available resources comprise 5 helicopters, 4 planes and a bird dog, 2 pieces of heavy equipment and 7 water tankers. On-site personnel include 50 Department of Natural Resources firefighters, 20 from Quebec, plus support staff.

SEPTEMBER 15: Annapolis County has announced the partial lifting of the evacuation order due to the West Dalhousie wildfire, effective Tuesday, September 16th, between 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM. Residents of specific civic addresses, including 5606-6160 (excluding 5648, 5674, 5695, 6106) West Dalhousie Rd, 122 Medicraft Ln, 8 & 28 Spectacle Lake Rd, are permitted to return to their properties. Please be advised that the evacuation order remains in effect for the remaining sections of West Dalhousie Rd, Thorne Rd, and Heartland Rd.
